Orchestral Pieces
Thunderstorm Trilogy (abridged)
The Thunderstorm Trilogy is the pinnacle moment in the 2nd movement of the Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra Heavy Clouds over Vast Wide Open in G-flat minor. This abridged version of the Thunderstorm Trilogy gives you a first insight into Julian's orchestral hand writing.
Full Score (Partitur)
The shift from traditional 1. & 2. Violin to 1. and 2. Violoncello in Julian's orchestral music is one of the core concepts of his heavy basso continuo. The ubiquitous polyrhythm of 8/8 over 4/4 is spread within the orchestra where each instrument group carries a 8/8 lead over a 4/4 background. For a more convenient reading, the Concerto No. 1 is scored in enharmonic correspondence. We also have prepared a mastered sample playback via NotePerformer3 of the full orchestral mix which you can play below.
